How to Care for Your Skin This Fall

As the seasons change, we pull out our box of winter clothes, turn up the heat, and fire up the fireplace. One thing that we don’t often consider, however, is our skin care routine. As we transition from warm air that is full of moisture to cold dry air, our skin requires a different routine in order to look its best. Here are some tips for taking care of your skin this fall season.

1. Use a cool-mist humidifier

Keeping your skin hydrated is important as it will stay soft and supple. As your furnace puts out heat, the dry air will deplete your skin of moisture and cause it to become dry and crack. By using a cool-mist humidifier, you put that moisture back into the air.

2. Use lukewarm water instead of hot water

Hot water can dry out your skin, so use lukewarm water and give your skin a break. Extremely hot water can also make skin conditions like rosacea flare.

3. Exfoliate your skin only one or two times a week

Exfoliation, while beneficial, can be hard on the skin. If it’s dry or struggling to retain moisture, then reduce how many times you exfoliate.

4. Stay hydrated
